Has anyone been paying attention to this at all? It's supposed to have to do with TikTok like applications but some of the text in the bill is pretty fn scary.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

I read that bill through the lens of the book "Three Felonies a Day".

In typical Governmentese, the vaguely written law could be used on a whim with no public scrutiny or notice in order to prohibit or restrict otherwise lawful commerce thereby creating a criminal act unbeknownst to anyone save some non-elected bureaucratic steaming pile of bovine excrement.

The problem is Tik-Tok (today), which is a PsyOps arm of the CCP. They should deal with THAT. Asking government to craft good legislation that solves a specific problem without blowing up a ton of other stuff is like asking Biden to stop sniffing young girls.

A guy can hope.

QuoteWell, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. - Ayn Rand

Quote"Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with."

Ayn Rand or George Orwell.
Take your pick.

What am I missing? It looks like it deals solely with foreign adversaries.

Not by a Longshot. The wording in this is SO vague that it could literally be anything or anyone it deems adversarial.

BITD in order to be prosecuted for a crime, "intent" was weighed. Today, no such measure of levelheadedness exists.

When the government knows you didn't do X, they'll just prosecute you foconspiracycy and/or obstruction of justice. And if they don't have something on you (which they ALWAYS do), they'll squeeze your family and friends to fabricate something to get you on. This law, just opens the floodgates on shit like that.

If you somehow ever become an enemy of the state, you better know who your ride or dies are because you're gonna need 'em.

Agreed.
Many of the J6 people who were prosecuted were not even afforded simple due process.
Bills like this will give the 'authorities' even more power to steamroll people.
IMNSHO, of course...
