I'll start this now. No recs yet, I'll wait for now.

Any insights from others most welcome.

None of us can know what will work in 2021. What we can do is give an educated guess.

Post thoughts here..

I'll give one rec on a stock for 2021 out performance that I've been accumulating this year: KHC (Kraft Heinz, Inc.). Just a hunch, but I have my reasons. This stock (boring in 2020, under performing its peers - could be a rocket ship in 2021)

More on this a little later.. (I'm up over +11+% from cost basis to current price in over two months...but that ain't 'the story'. The goal is 2021).

Avoid this year's big winners and look for stocks set up for big gains next year.

(to be continued)

Bitcoin over $23,000 now. Insane! How far up can it go? After PayPal incorporated Bitcoin as another payment process option, it's shot to the moon since. All the cryptos are blasting higher.

DOW off -200 as of this moment. Knock on wood! Futures earlier today were down -600.

Markets like the new stimulus bill. Mnuchin says "checks will be sent next week". Interest rates will remain low (unchanged) through? (or to?) 2023. Small business help.

^^ However, a new COVID strain detected in the U.K. London in full tier 4 lockdown. Most European nations blocked flights to and fro U.K. Two U.K. travelers with new strain found in Italy and are in quarantine.

Hang on to your investment hats. Could be a wild week...

My 4 favorite stock picks for this year for a Swing or long term trade holding at least 6 months would be
-ATVI (I think with this years game releases that Activision will do well, i am shooting for 20% profits here, im probably will sell around 120$/share but will probably hold a year either way for tax reasons)
-AAPL (AAPL's products and technology have been killing it lately with great performance and new technology and i expect that will not change in 2021)
-CRSR (Corsair has been making huge strides and in my opinion they will take a big market share from $LOGI during 2021) (im only allocating a small position to this one because its more risky in my opinion than the others listed here)
-LMT (this is my biggest position which I personally feel very safe in, Lockheed martin has contracts in place with the US government for F35 fighters for many many years to come so i think this is a safe place for me to leave the biggest portion of my personal portfolio

Disclaimer: all of the stock ideas listed are my opinions and ideas for some stocks that I feel may perform well in the upcoming year but I am not suggesting anyone buys any stocks without doing your own diligent research or consult with a professional before making any investments.

Nice. Thanks Josh! I'll check them out.

(Started out like it would be a rout, but stocks resilient today. New Rona mutation in U.K. had markets on edge. A good sign, maybe. The Bull is kicking strongly)

Capped gains (low returns). Penalties around 10 to 15% of PRINCIPAL if closed out before it matures (which is usually 10 years minimum). You're not allowed to access your money, you just get small payouts each month.

They are very complicated. Even an experienced financial advisor wouldn't know all the rules and regulations.

You see and hear annuity ads more often after there's a downturn in the market. They'll stress "keep your money safe!" Which I say, can't we just sell if we feel uncomfortable? Or hedge? (short a few investments to offset losses).

IMO, STFO of annuities.

And remember, your funds in the bank are FDIC insured. Your investments are SIPC insured. Annuities stay solvent as long as the issuing insurance company stays solvent! Or,... bye bye money.

Thanks Dan, as i get closer to that retirement they seem to push these more, and my gut tells me to stay away. The financial guys just never seem to explain it very well.

Here's a simple (easy to maintain) portfolio. (While it seems bland (it is), over the long haul it will (probably) strongly outperform stock pickers or hedge funds and absolutely annihilate any annuity):

4 ETF's to own....

VTI (50%)...Vanguard total U.S. stock market fund. 0.03% annual fees (not a misprint)
VB (20%)... Vanguard U.S. small cap stocks. 0.05% annual fees!
VEA (20%)... Vanguard international developed markets. 0.05% annual fees.
VWO (10%)... Vanguard international emerging markets. 0.10% annual fees.

(re-balance once a year to allocation %'s I listed)

We have a variable annuity structured 401K at work. I'm guessing total annual fees around 2%. (compare with above fees!!!)

I know they stress more bonds as you approach retirement. I disagree. Stocks superior gains (sure more risky). That portfolio pays out dividends each 3 months, also. Might consider re-investing the dividends. Two schools of thought on that. Either way OK, I suppose.

What is the tangible difference between Bitcoin and any other fiat currency?

It seems to me neither has any intrinsic value except what people seem to believe it has
