So, I rented this movie over the weekend, the 1951 version. EXCELLENT movie by the way.

They have Mr. Carpenter, the alien, in the hospital and they're marveling  about how the alien says they live to be 130. "How do you think they do it?"

Meanwhile, the three doctors having the discussion are passing out cigarettes to each other and lighting
them.
Ironic.  :)

The wife and I watched that show a number of years ago, back when Blockbuster online was still around. It had excellent reviews so we had it shipped to us.

I had no idea it was from 1951 so when it started the 1951 graphics were a surprise and we almost turned it off but didn't. By the end of the show we were both captivated. Excellent movie. Much better than the 2008 remake.

I remember watching it as a kid on tv and it scared the crap out of me. Mostly the eerie music, but also the scene when everything electric stops.

Forbidden Planet is my other favorite scifi movie from that era.

I vaguely remember "The day the earth stood still" from way back when. It was scary then, cutting edge technology and special effects!

I'll put Forbidden Planet on my watch list. I expect I've seen that too but don't recall for sure.

scarier than Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein. That's my all time benchmark for scary TV. :D

A classic, iconic movie. Smit is right, original way better than the remake starring Keauna Reeves.
