My IT guy is looking for a cheaper source for computers. We've been buying Boxx for years.
Boxx has always been expensive, but since covid, they have gotten insanely stupid expensive.
Plus they played bait and switch on me the last time I dealt with them.
I ordered a nice machine, it arrived and everyone liked it so much they told me to order another, just like it.
I called them up and my regular contact no longer worked there.
The new guy told me the machine I ordered 2 weeks ago was no longer available and it's replacement was
an additional $1800. I felt like I was dealing with a slimeball at a low end used car lot.
I haven't done business with them since.

I've since purchased 2 machines from Xi. They are not cheap, but they are very well built and
they build what you order and deliver when they say they will.

Now my IT guy is looking at Digital Storm.
I looked at them 5 years ago and their reviews were terrible.
I just checked their reviews again and they are still terrible.

Has anyone here every bought a machine from Digital Storm.??
I'm telling IT guy to stay far far away

Looks like most of their reviews on youtube aren't very good.

I've never heard of them or bought from them but I'd be skeptical.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

I can slap some newegg components together for $1800 labor.
I'll even gift wrap it

Yeah
One review I read said his machine arrived with a dead video card
They told him to pull the card and ship it to them
When they got the dead card  they told him he didn't pull it properly and voided his warranty.

on the flip side of that ... I'll bet a company that builds high end gaming machines
has a lot of customers playing silly games with warranty returns

I have a three year old i7 Digital Storm at home and it's the best computer I've had. It's a gaming machine and I haven't put Mastercam on it (yet) but I think it won't be an issue. I don't need a backup battery on it. If we have a power outage everything I have open will be saved and will come up exactly like it was before the outage.
