It had to happen.

The company just blocked Chatgpt.

I was going send an email reporting the results of some testing I just completed and wanted to use chatgpt to help me organize it.

Ah well. They'll just have to deal with pure unadulterated me. :)

Did they say why they blocked it. It is a great tool that can save a lot of time. Security concerns?

That would be my assumption. A defense contractor using ChatGPT to do things like write up an email on the results of tests being done. Where are those test results going? And who else would have access to things that require pretty significant security clearance to see. I'd say it's a good move on their part.

IMO if you aren't allowed to post things like that on social media, it probably shouldn't be sent to ChatGPT either.

Not saying Mowens did anything wrong, but who else is doing the same thing with even more sensitive subjects?

I got an e-mail from a few customers recently informing us that the NDA extends to "AI platforms".  As if I'd do that. 🤣

"Discussions" are discussions regardless of platform.  Wonder what idiot discussed stuff on ChatGPT? F'n moron.

To be clear, there was nothing sensitive in my email.

I was running interference checks on some new engineering and tooling.

I'm a thoroughly indoctrinated little drone.

There was no reason given. Just a message saying ai applications are blocked.

I think it is a mistake for businesses to block all access to AI like GPT. I do think there should some proper usage training and policy updates to cover the use of AI. However, It is a tool that can drastically increase worker productivity. Why would you block or completely restrict it.

I agree. This email thing was more of a "let's see what it does with this" kind of thing but the help it gave me with my code was definitely a boon.

The high security areas are isolated from the web so don't have access to ChatGpt anyway.

Quote from: Newbeeeeâ„¢ on May 18, 2023, 07:28 AMBecause if you're asking it to answer very specifically worded questions - then surely, there's a potential IP issue.
Isn't there?
Let alone the risk of Chy-NUH stealing it :hrhr:

Hence the usage training and policy update. You can ask it for help without disclosing enough IP to be worth anything to someone. Especially in coding, small sections of code won't give you the full program but it can be a huge help in that area.

As Doug said, you have to be specific as far as the actions you want it to perform, what language you want the code to be in and so forth. There is really no reason to have to include any specific IP or ITAR data. As I say this, though, I recall discussions about the evolution of idiots as more fail safe options are included in processes. ;)
