It was recommended that I get this today.  Anyone have experience with this and is it needed?

The doc told me that it was a couple of dose vax and I would feel like shit after.

Well, I've had shingles. If it works, I think it would be worth it. Although you can have shingles twice, it's not likely, so, I will pass.

Shingles is one of those things,  if you get it, it can really,  really suck.

It might still be worth feeling blah for a few days to miss getting it.

I've heard shingles is really, really painful so yeah, I got the shots.

Vaccinations have never bothered me before so I didn't expect Shingrix to bother me either but it damn sure did. Both times it made me feel like crap the day after. Two days after I was pretty much back to normal though.

I've been told that it's time for the anal probing too.  I'm not sure that I like doctors anymore.

the shingles virus caused me to go mostly deaf in my left ear. I've always wondered if that means, I won't get it again, or if that kind of attack is different than the one that people talk about being painful. I had no pain at all from this. just hearing loss.

My Mrs. had shingles many years back and it really did suck.

Does your doc think you are somehow at higher risk to get it?

I am VERY skeptical of docs pushing any kind of vaccines since COVID.

I was reading an article recently about the fact that many common vaccines will now be made using the same MRNA technology as the COVID jabs, so again, I would be a HARD PASS on it simply because of that.

One of my co workers got the shingles vaccines.
He is a cancer survivor and he had to be tough as an old boot to get through what he went though
with his cancer treatments.
Despite what he went through beating cancer he said the pair of shingles shots he got really sucked.
Given his medical history, if he says they suck, I believe him,

I've been through some cancer treatment too.  It wasn't chemotherapy, which I wouldn't wish on anyone. It was plaque radiation therapy for choroidal melanoma.  It's pretty gross.

I thought that I could handle anything after that until I got covid.

This doesn't sound good in any way thought.  lol.  Neither does the singles.

The "anal probe" thingy saved my life. I highly recommend it.

They told me that I could do the "poop in a box" thing. Not sure what I'm going to do there yet.

My Grandfather had shingles on his head and inside his eye socket (IIRC). He was never the same after. He was one of the 2 toughest people I knew. He was a Linotype Operator (think OS printing press equipment). He had a grip that would cripple your hand if you weren't expecting it. He's the one that taught me about a firm hand-shake. And my other grandpa (didn't ever get shingles)... WWII USN Lt. Cmdr... sailed the North Atlantic enough times to know his number should have been up twice... watched torpedoes run parallel to his ship on several occasions one time the boat was grazed. Had it not been for the badass seamanship of the boat driver and spotters, I would have never known him and I most likely would have never aspired to become an engineer.

Back to shingles. Watching it debilitate my grandpa for what seemed like a couple years (memory from that period of my life is hazy at best) I'm on the fence.
