I upgraded my workstation to Windows 11 this afternoon.
Every app I've tested works properly and there have been no issues at all
Mastercam's windows look a little different, but in a good way.
The update took about a half hour and was trouble free.
It required exactly 2 mouse clicks, Install and Restart.

This is a far cry from Window's early days.
I remember a nightmare Win3.1 install. 6 hours in and disc #21 threw a terminal error and bricked my computer

So far I think I'm going to like Win 11.

I've been using windows 11 since it came out, the early versions had bugs with the task bar not displaying properly, it was so bad I had to get the pre-release version just to get the fixes early..

It's been pretty much smooth sailing other than that, there are much better security features than the old version(s).

Microsoft is aiming to kill windows 10 soon, so I think you picked a good time to update

I think their support ends in like 2035 or something.

Windows 10 End of Life

"Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025. The current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10, and all editions will remain in support with monthly security update releases through that date. "

There are some fundamental problems with the os that windows 11 fixes with Winui3/UWP apps, although they are plagued by random failure for unknown reasons...

apps are the future because they are secure and vetted by microsoft, where programs are not,

technically it's already at EOL
the current version is the last update.
from here on out there will only be security patches

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that programs/apps will be updated to support Win 11 only going forward
and will become less and less stable in Win 10

pardon my ignorance

what is the difference between an app and a program

I always thought programs were for PC's and apps for smartphones
and eventually people called all of them apps

Windows apps are a newer concept than android apps but the principles remain the same,
the largest difference would be that apps require the developer to have code signing, which means there companies have been vetted by the authorities and you can hold the owner of the EV Signing Certificate used to sign the app responsible for its working, microsoft also runs malware detection and thoroughly questions the developer about every aspect including privacy etc, in the case of a program, even tho it is signed it has not been vetted by microsoft so there is no telling what it could be doing,

apps fix all the issues with windows that made linux and mac more secure than windows 11 but we need to transition to an app only windows universe and that will take time
