His pandering to them is what makes him look bad. Fake or not, he should have condemned them from the start.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Pandering them? Where/when was that?

We're not talking about David Duke are we?

He didn't start condemning them until after he was criticized for not.

In the beginning he wouldn't say anything negative about them (proud boys or patriot front). In Trump true fashion, he doesn't criticize anyone who gives him any kind of praise.  Maybe he didn't want to lose the voters?

I'm sure that he wouldn't have a problem doing it now that Ethan Nordean called him a liar, accused him of misleading his supporters and then deserting them.

Maybe you should watch the first 30 seconds of the video I posted. There's a video dated February 14 2000, and I'd lump all them into one category

He wasn't a candidate for, or the president in 2000. Nobody really cared what he said back then. Although some of his past actions may have lead people to believe he may be racist. :D I mean, wasn't his casino fined for moving black and women dealers to accommodate his racist patrons?

He couldn't have known anything about these particular groups back then because they didn't emerge until 2016 when antifa became a thing and the groups started clashing publicly.

Then there was the "I'm sure that there are very fine people on both sides" comment that *may* have been taken out of context but certainly wasn't a good look when the opposing party are already accusing you of having racist supporters and you're talking about neo-Nazi protesters.

I could chalk it up to ignorance on his part but it kinda looked more like pandering?

So wouldn't that be more genuine than a politician just saying something to get votes? I'd believe Trump 2000s opinion over any politicians opinion right now.

Sure, but doesn't it kinda prove the point. If he was willing to say those things openly in 2000, but was reluctant to condemn these groups openly until being cajoled in to it (talking about these groups specifically) while he was president, he was either pandering to neo-nazis, or ignorant? I think he knew who these guys were so I have my doubts as to how ignorant he was about it.

I'm not trying to call him a racist. I don't know if he is, or isn't.

Remember those panderers that befriended Trump, gave him awards, invited him to social gatherings, etc., just to get his money? Then dumped him like a bag of bricks when they found out he was a republican? Yeah, good times.....

Only he knows. Just like only you know if you are or aren't. Same with me.
