Memory Reminder....

We're about to move house, and as a result I was going through some paperwork in my office.

I found this "poison pen" letter that someone had sent to my management, while I was away in Paris (well, just outside of Paris). It was unsigned, but the letter read:

"I am writing to let u know that u are being used by <my name> for his overseas travel. He has tried this on other companies"

Got to laugh. My employer fully supported the trip (for training), and they were the one that showed it to me as soon as I returned.

Interestingly, I initially thought it was written by a disgruntled coworker, but none of them knew I travelled with a previous employer as part of my work. After a little bit of elimination, I was 99% sure it was written by a so called then friend in my street. The clincher was when he found out I was travelling to Asia for a software conference (on my own dime, as it was for my own business), the first question he asked me on my return was "did your employer pay for that trip, or did you pay for it because it was your own business work?"

Some people just get so consumed and jealous. I never called him out on it, and have often thought of doing so, but I am not one to waste energy on pointless people.

Thought I would share it for a laugh. Anyone else been the target of a poison pen letter?

Yep, I totally agree. Funny thing is, if I look back at his behaviour, all the signs of jealousy were there.

Never a poison pen type letter.

We had a guy working here for a while that would constantly refuse help on jobs when offered, then would go to the owner on my days off and tell him that I wouldn't help him on those specific jobs. 

The shop owner and I have worked together for at least 20 years so he knew the guy was full of crap. I had been the shop owners boss up until he took over.

He was also one of those guys who would go up to one person and talk shit about someone and get them to say something, then go to that other person and tell them that the other guy was talking shit about them. It would stir up all kinds of drama.   

I'm glad that guy doesn't work here anymore. He was a cancer.
