We use Quaker Houghton WS8595 coolant in our machines. It works great for the variety of materials we cut, but it causes the skin at the tips of my fingers to split and bleed. It doesn't bother any of the operators but me.

I've always been prone to rashes, so I figure it's mostly just me. Nevertheless, I would prefer not to have split & bleeding fingers, because I'm just a whiny dude.

The Plant manager is not against changing coolant. So I'm hoping someone here might have some suggestions for a good replacement. We primarily cut aluminum & various stainless alloys, with a smattering of titanium & inconel.

We have a guy here that puts cream on his hands and wrists because our coolant gives him rashes. Believe it or not it's baby diaper rash cream. If you can't get the coolant switched, might be worth looking into.

We were running Cimpulse 53 MP and we liked it, but it left a haze on the parts (aluminum) that was a pain to get off. I'm pretty sure the 53 MP is strictly aluminum too so it probably wouldn't work for you.

About a week ago we started testing Castrol MB 50. As far as I know no complaints so far. Recommended for all materials as well.

In all my years on machines, that was the only one that ever gave me problems.

Down here we have similar cream, that we call Barrier Cream. I used to suffer the same problem, and using barrier cream worked wonders and I never had an issue. Pretty much good for any oils and solvents.

Could you ask him what is the exact product he uses? i'd like to give this a try.

If you don't mind me asking, what were the issues? It'd be nice to know what to look out for.

My hands would get red, raw, sore...wasn't pleasant for sure...barrier cream helped in my case but it didn't go away completely.
