I'll be the one to point out the "elephant in the room" that no one wants to talk about. No amount of money will fix the issues. The no kid left behind and everyone in the same classroom is destructive and prohibits actual learning. There needs to be three types of classrooms. One for kids that are average or above learners and not discipline problems. One for under average learners but not discipline problems, and one for discipline problems. I'll even go so far as to say separating boys and girls can have great results as well. If you put the kids into classes where teachers/admin can actually focus the right resources there is a way better chance at success.

Now, people that even hints at that publicly are immediately labeled racists and more.

that's an interesting point. I do think some schools separate out the kids with sever disciplinary issues into different buildings. In our town we have a school called New Horizons for kids that have been in trouble with the law or have some other issues. But there are still kids that have disciplinary issues within the classroom but don't meet the qualifications for that school.

funny thing, though, I went to the Catholic School 1-8th grade. They ran such a tight ship that it was extremely rare to have any severe disciplinary problems. the disciplinary problems that we thought were severe seem a little silly now.

another thing they did in those classrooms which were about 25 kids or so, was to divide us into 3 groups for math and 3 groups for reading. first group was the most advanced and the third group was for the kids that struggled. Some kids that might have been in the first group for reading, might be in a lesser group for math. But in that way, kids got what they needed. By the 7th grade kids in the first math group were doing algebra, but the kids in the 3rd group were still in more basic math concepts. And sometimes kids moved between groups as they started to understand things better, or if kids didn't keep up with their homework, they might get moved to a lesser group. the system really worked well at the time. I don't know if they still work that way now or not.

As far as discipline problems, we got in trouble for not having our shirts tucked in or not wearing a belt, or for failing to remove a hat indoors. things were so much different then.

You're just a homophobic transphobic racist! That confederate flag hanging from your front porch is serving you proudly.  :fun:
