Forum moved to a different host this weekend or next.

Just a heads up so nobody thinks we died.

The forum is moving to a new host either this weekend or next.

During the move we may see a few hours of down time and it may take some time for DNS records to repopulate so some people may get directed to this forum and others directed to the new.  That should resolve itself in a day or so.

We may lost a day or two of posts but since this will be happening on a weekend I don't see that causing any problems.

Typically I would lock the forum until the move is complete but we're so small I don't think that's necessary.

You may notice some functions disappearing temporarily as I have to disable some of the hooks and re-enable them in the new location so minimize any issues.

On a side note:

ghuns, stop subscribing to threads.      you've caused bluehost to lock the email account so the forum can no longer send out emails. I don't know if that's actually what caused it but when I look in the logs, every attempted email is to you.   

I don't know if that will cause problems with the new host. I'll have to wait and see how it works out.  When the email is blocked it causes problems with new people trying to join the forum because now, and we could change this, the authentication requires an email response.

Those have been due to issues with the current host. I'm hoping that the new host will be a little more stable.

It's probably a profile setting.  Some of the profile settings for this forum can be a little weird.

If you go in to ->profile -> notifications ->  Notification Preferences  you can set which type of alerts you want to receive and also you can see which topics or boards you are following and clear them out if they have anything in them. 

Some of those notification settings default to email when it's unnecessary.

In your profile settings make sure that

Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic: 

Is unchecked as well. That causes you to automatically follow any thread you've replied to. 

That's typically a nice feature to have on a support forum but it would be nice if it wasn't a global setting and it could be disabled for offtopic

I'm going to put a "place-mat" on the new host so if you land on it, it will give a little pause.

The move seemed to go well.  There are some loose ends to tie up but I think that everything should function normally.

I have to fix some paths to images on the front page but that shouldn't affect the functionality of the forum.

If anyone notices any glitches post in this thread and I'll try to get it fixed asap.
