Part of the reason for the hate goes back to when Israel became a state
There was brutal fighting between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Atrocities were committed on both sides and several hundred thousand Palestinians either fled ot were forcibly relocated. Some Israelis even poisoned village wells, forcing them to relocate.

I noticed it in high school 25 years ago, it's just most didnt want to acknowledge it. Unfortunately it has finally become noticeable to the masses, and likely too late to put back into the box.
