Quote from: mkd on November 22, 2023, 02:36 PMCore and satellite approach is good to. 60-80% in S&P500 type of ETFs and the rest in more speculative plays.

ETF investors have mostly ETF's with core, satellites, etc. Sector, industry (drilled down further from a sector). Small caps, large caps, international mixes. Around 50 to 60 % or more in core ETF's (DIA, SPY, QQQ, VTI, etc.) Some invest upwards of 80% core.

I have a few non core ETF's. Foreign and small caps, mostly.

For me, the ETF's are there for matching the benchmark (S&P 500). That's a realistic strat. The alpha comes with individual stocks. Gotta roll the dice to beat the benchmarks.

My faith in Christ causes me to have joy in the living and joy in the dying, gratitude in the blessings of this world and hope through the sufferings. In that way, my faith puts me in a better place before I even get to a better place. jm2c

Yes.

Not in an "I WANT to go there now kind of a way, but I know where I am spending it, and most importantly why I get to spend it there. I most definitely do not fear the after-life.

Both Warren and Charlie live(d) in modest homes. Charlie made no bones about his choice being at least a part of his overall happiness. He said a lavish life would ne bad for his children and step children.
