Biden is so corrupt that he will not go without a fight. He has the full support of untold wealth from foreign parties at his backing. He will fight to continue his graft and corruption at all costs. Unless he dies he will be the candidate.

Quote from: neurosis on January 16, 2024, 10:41 AMI wonder what their examples of "authoritarianism" are. Covid lockdowns? Forced masking? Forced Covid vaccinations with a threat of losing your job?  Oh wait, that wasn't Trump.

speaking of authoritarianism, the mayor of Edwardsville Illinois, who ran a campaign on DEI and helping the marginalized, is trying to shut down a baptist church in town for offering it's building as a warming center to any homeless people during this extreme cold over a ten day period. fining them $750 a day for not filing paperwork to be able to house overnight guests.

Sounds like there was enough blow back to stop the City from going after the Church. Their excuse, which is typical in these situations, was

QuoteIt was never our intent to prevent it from operating, particularly at a time of such dangerous weather conditions. The city's concern was only that the facility was safe for the people staying there and volunteering there," Mayor Risavy said. "Our hope now is to continue a conversation with First Baptist Church so we can be part of the solution for those who are unhoused or in dire circumstances.

Sounds like a bunch of horse manure to me. Sure, it's much safer to freeze to death.

You'd have to be a next level piece of shit to stop a church from giving warm shelter to the homeless during freezing cold weather.

Maybe Joel Osteen was smarter than people gave him credit for when he wouldn't open his doors to Hurricane Harvey victims.  :D

Happens all the time.

Cities will cite zoning requirements, building codes, lack of handicapped accessibility, lack of parking, etc.

Yet that's what they did, and then they had the AUDACITY to cite the safety of those people as the reason.
You really can't make this stuff up.

...
The reality is these bureaucrats think that they ARE THE answer for everything and that THEY ARE indispensable for the functioning of your daily life. And when they have convinced the sheep they can do nothing "safely" without said bureaucrat's consent, you can then bring these edicts from on high and proclaim "...we only have your safety in mind..." and can get away with it.

The reality, those bureaucrats should have been dragged out of City Chambers, beaten, and left out in the cold like the rented mules they are. But alas, they'll be reelected and sent on their merry way to further infringe upon those without proper papers that wish to do good for their fellow man.

Maybe not a popular opinion with current company; I don't listen to Joe Rogan. He's a moron.

Hilarious how you bring up a story that's what, 7 years old now? And RW harped on the same 7 year old story for a few minutes.

And he's only a moron because your news sources tell you he is, and he is a threat to their power over the people. Most of his far right 'conspiwacy thewies' (but in fact he's very much a liberal) have been proven fact.

I wouldn't say he's a moron... but I don't listen to him either. I do take his company Onnit's Alpha Brain supplement in the interests of full disclosure though.

I'm certain I can count on one hand with fingers to spare the number of times I've listened to his podcast. Frankly, I don't find him all that compelling, but to his credit he does give people space to articulate their positions even if he disagrees with them which is refreshing. Not a lot of hosts do that.

You have no idea what news sources I listen to or watch and I had no idea that Ron White was on Rogan. and give even less of a shit.

Maybe he brought it up because Joel Osteen is a shit bag?

Moron may be a little harsh. He knows who his audience is and he knows how to keep them listening. In that respect, maybe he's a genius.

That was the one thing that I did like about him was the variety of guests.

That is the whole reason to listen to him. I don't care for the MMA stuff, I don't care for his personal beliefs. But it is refreshing to be able to hear the side you never hear from controversial people/subjects. And get the full unfiltered side of them to build your own opinion.
