New shops are a lot like no different than any other new relationship.
After a while things get old and annoying. ;D

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

I learned in 2012/13 that money, while nice, does not make a shitty place a good place to work...I left $32k/yr on the table to get out of that place....

We're going thru some pretty significant growing pains right now, mostly related to systems that were never in place to scale with the company as it grew...they are being tackled but it is painful.

Aaron has been through our shop...I think he'd agree it's a "real shop"  We are still expanding our capabilities.

the shop is great all new equipment, lacking common tooling and some common sense the most bothersome part is the whiney people, some just spend more effort crying about stuff than doing stuff

Flycut

I wish small shops could afford to pay like big shops.

They could... with the right employee and right management mindset.

I have the wage discussion with shop floor guys on up to Company CEO's and just about everyone in between on a somewhat routine basis.

To shop level guys I say this; want more money? Be the kind of employee that changes the scope of work your company can take on. Invest in yourself first, up your technical game. And adk yourselfthis, if you won't invest in yourself why should a company invest in you?

To owners and CEO's I say this; take a long hard look at your "no-bid" pile. Look for growth opportunities. Opportunities that will push your team and reward success.

It's simple really. It's just not easy.

These days it's difficult to find an employee that doesn't take 3 20 minute shits a day.

The boss occasionally walks in the bathroom and turns the light off to see how many stalls are lit up with cell phones.

Someone showed me a catalogue a while back that had toilets for the workplace.
The seat was set at an acute angle, down in the front.
The goal was to make it uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time.
It's a good idea, but I suspect some shitbird with a personal injury lawyer on speed dial
would slide off it and sue for a busted tail bone.

We had a meeting about this years back. I'd never seen such a high percentage of people with crohn's or similar issues together in one place.   It was like the day everyone all of the sudden had gluten allergies.
