it is frustrating that these companies want all of this information from you and then can't manage to keep it safe. My wife got a notice from a hospital that she went to as a teenager that her info had been stolen including SS#. they offered a year worth of identity and credit protection for free. But then I have to trust another company that I've never heard of before, to keep all of the info, and what questions do they ask? your birthday, SS#, etc.

It just seems to me that the onus should be on the people who store the information, that they require you to give them for some service, not on the person who is required to provide that information.
