It's an election year with an unliked incumbent who is morally bankrupt, something is going to happen in October.

But apart from that (the obvious), how are all these "Ai machines going to build other Ai machines"?

If you have software (AI) that can "think" for itself, it should be capable of programming and deploying another version of itself. Also should be capable of hacking into any computer/database connected to the internet.

As for building another machine, it'd probably figure out how to use one of these:

I can see sowshall meeeedya, science literature, history etc, anything and everything digitalised, being a "threat" of Ai attack. All being re-written (albeit to suite whoever's narrative (?)- bit like now in some instances....)
Also things like airtravel, traffic lights, train stations, stockmarket and our bank accounts - any day-to-day control network, obviously being able to be attacked. Because it is able to infiltrate and alter.
But that's the same as any hack happening now....either legit or "friendly" that's blamed on A.N.Other....

I went to visit my mom in a Very Liberal state of Illinois.

She lives in a very small town of 21,000 people.

EVERY Stop light EVERY stoplight has 4 cameras, Flock cameras are everywhere. speed monitoring devices on every road.
the flashing kind that show your speed. these are out in the middle of nowhere? I was freaked out. you could not drive anywhere without  being on camera.   I was driving down backroads and they were fully monitored.

Who orders the material or more importantly checks the cert to ensure it has all the approvals? And the cap screws to hold the part to the fixture plate?
Or does the deburring....checks the threads with a go/nogo, or wire inserting (especially knocking the tangs off) and ships it to the platers or masks it for painting?
It all goes on and on....Yes, it's very clever.
CAE, CAD CAM etc.... A = Aided....

My honest opinion (without watching that video) is that "true" AI is not happening anytime soon, I'd guess no where near in my lifetime. "true" AI meaning like IRobot / Ultron type stuff where the computer can have complex thoughts.

While I'm on the subject I'm sick of seeing news headlines "huge breakthrough in AI" like give it a rest. I'd almost rather listen to Biden give a speech than see another one of those headlines. Yesterdays "huge breakthrough" was someone coming out with a new graphics card. Todays "huge breakthrough" was someone able to generate slightly more realistic pictures of cats. It's ridiculous. If it's even remotely related to technology, you can count on the media to slap AI in the title and run with it.
