Me.
But at the time I didn't appreciate my mother. I was your typical rebellious asshole son.

QuoteThe morning of Nov. 30, 2021, school staff members were concerned about a violent drawing of a gun, bullet and wounded man, accompanied by desperate phrases, on Ethan Crumbley's math assignment. He was allowed to stay in school following a meeting with his parents, who didn't take him home.

A few hours later, Ethan Crumbley pulled a handgun from his backpack and shot 10 students and a teacher, killing four peers. No one had checked the backpack.

So, what kind of school administrators are they to let a kid this fucked up go back to class that day? Seems to me a day or 2 off would be in order. And what kind of parent wouldn't immediately get their kid evaluated by a mental health professional? Lotta things went wrong for sure. Manslaughter tho? I cannot get onboard with that. Aiding and abetting by ignoring obvious pleas for help? Maybe.

I think criminal negligence would be more appropriate. It seems to me that the parents took the path of least resistance and just blew off the warning signs.

Now that she's been convicted you know the husband is screwed. :(

I wonder what this is going to mean going forward as far as school shootings go.

By that standard then so did the school admin and teachers. They could have easily searched the kids property after the meeting and stopped all of this from happening.

What I read was as soon as they were questioned ,They took off and started deleting all their texts.

So it could be taken as an admission of Guilt.

And they didn't just take off down the Block, They was Runnin!! :o

Maybe. I'm sure the school could have done more. But, according to the boy himself, he gave his parents the money to buy the handgun he used. Also, according to the boy, the gun was not secured in any way.
Now, to my way of thinking, a 15 year old boy asking his parents to buy him a handgun should raise their antennae a little bit; unless he was involved in competitive shooting. And four days after buying him a handgun, he is discovered with violent drawings and a plea for help. It just seems pretty egregious to me.

"Warning signs" are always clearer after the fact.
I had all the warning signs, didn't mean nothing.

Maybe the parents are lucky they weren't the first victims like Sandy Hook shooters mom.

Haven't you heard? Sandy Hook was faked. Just ask Alex Jones. /S

That was my thought as well.
Our local high school hands out automatic 3-day suspensions like they are candy for ANY kind of trouble a student runs into.
They usually call it a cooling-off period, or an evaluation period, so that the school administration can gather facts and make decisions.

Apparently none of that happened in this case.
If the parents are found criminally liable, school administrators will no doubt be found liable as well, if not criminally, they won't have a leg to stand on in a civil lawsuit.

Sad case all around.
