This from Nick Voils on MyMastercam forum:

QuoteThe error is likely due to updating to SW24 and Mastercam 2024 lacking support. What you are seeing with some files loading, and some not, makes sense if you are saving out a supported file type. SW and Parasolid part file support has not been added to Mastercam 2024 but is expected to be included in the next update. I don't have a timeline but do know that we are nearing the release of U6.

You guys think so many updates is good or bad?

This is actually a "good" in my mind...smaller, more frequent updates.

JM2C YMMV

I remember back in my NX days, there'd be monthly, sometimes more frequent patches

Shamelessly copying and pasting what I put on Emastercam in a similar thread-

If you look at the Update releases, generally Mastercam has been moving from a small number of large Updates, to spreading these out over a larger number of updates which can be delivered faster. This means that, among other things, we can sync up to things like file format changes for importers for different software like Solidworks/etc closer to when those other products release, rather than waiting months and months for the next Update to drop.

We bought hyperMill back in 2013 and the boss dropped maintenance in 2015
I talked them into renewing maintenance in Nov 2022.
In 2023 hyperMill released 6 updates... basically 1 every 2 months

More updates is always a good thing if they can be implemented painlessly and quickly.

Unlike the beta where it's almost March and we've seen one miniscule update for the 2025 version.

MC2025 is still in TP (technology preview)
I think the next release with be PB1 (public beta 1) .. thats my opinion only..
I've been using MC2025 TP4 for work that no one else will be needing to access any time soon
(one time use repair files, patches and tooling modifications)
I have not run into any major issues.

The biggest problem I've had is the selection of solid edges.

example...
In 2024 I select "analyze position" and click on the edge of a solid hole
The edge of the hole and it's center point are highlighted and the coordinates of the hole's centerline are
returned.

In MC2025 I have to use the hotkey "C" (center snap) to get the desired results
I've been through my Config files and snap settings a dozen times and can't find any difference between
my 2024 and 2025 setup.

The Mastecam.com forum is stone dead lately as well
Maybe things will pick up when the PB1 is released

You have to buy the 3-axis deburr that's coming if you don't have multiaxis, it's a paid add-on.
We have multiaxis and this doesn't affect us, but charging for toolpaths is going down a dark road and I think it's wrong.

Are you shitting me?  That's ridiculous.

What he said...what in the actual fack

Dylan Gondyke

Deburr is MW technology and there are technology licensing reasons it can't just be given to the 3 axis package....but the 3 axis users still want access to that path without buying the full multiaxis package, so to answer that request (and boy was it a popular request) Deburr was spun off into a 3 axis specific variant for this scenario. No dark road- just a cul-de-sac.

2025 Beta 1 is in testing and will be out soon- normal schedule.

Thanks for the explanation on that. At least that makes more sense.
