More than 10 years ago, country singer Randy Travis was silenced by a stroke.
In recent days, he released some new music which he and his team created with the assistance of artificial intelligence.

I certainly missed his voice and thrilled he was able to use the technology to express himself.

Still, I have mixed feelings about the technology and how it could be used in the future.

What are your thoughts?

It's incredible how this is 100% spot on to Randy's voice and singing. An amazing song, but truly scary all in the same thought.

That's my point. I know it's not Randy Travis singing, but an A.I. generated voice, but I can't tell the difference.....and A.I. is in it's infancy as a technology, so imagine what could be done in 20 years.

Would you like to talk with an A.I. version of a deceased loved-one? I like to hear old recordings of people I miss.

Would you allow your voice to be recorded to train A.I., so people could converse with your likeness after you've passed?

That's already being done. Every time you talk to Alexa, say 'call mom' on your phone, do any type of speech to text, etc, it's likely being done.

Bwahaha My Bank USAA is right now offering Voice verification for access to my account.

Uhhh No.

Facial recognition ? Uhhh No. ::)

The base I work at has been using facial recognition for several years now.  Snaps your pick as you're driving up, get the green arrow to proceed, red, you better stop.

It's just SUCH a bad idea IMHO. Look, I'm not saying there's not good uses for it, but FFS.... please consider the most horrific uses of this technology before buying in on it, because THAT IS WHAT WILL BE HAPPENING.

Look no further than social media. It was supposed to bring us all together, now it's a fuckin' massive PsyOp driving us apart. Now your voice isn't yours, your likeness isn't yours, and your DNA isn't going to even be yours because they are gonna clone that shit too.

There are not enough controls in existence to reign the abuse in.

No! JUST FUCKIN NO! NO FUCKIN WAY! Stop already. We can't even handle what we've got now.
