Probably same reason I would just do a simple From Point strategy and come in through the net holes- it looks way cooler. Always neat to me how intricate you can make a port/tight entry situation like that look just using a single point as the tool axis control method, and it greatly simplifies holder clearance tilt.

Is that why I see some videos of helix bore with no hole tilting on all axes as it goes deeper?
I've seen that a few times and can't figure out why it would be more efficient. What am I not seeing?

If you drill a hole on Z axis only the tool has 100% diametral engagement.
With 5axis helical boring you can use a smaller tool.
That's the theory anyway.
I've never actually tried it.
Mastercam doesn't have this toolpath and I've never tried it in Hypermill

Actually unified can do that I believe. Tee other option I think can pull it off is Port Machining.

would that require the Post Expert Module?

Yep, I've done "helical drilling" paths with Unified. Other than shank/holder clearance options, I don't know why you would really reach for this technique or why it needs to be its own toolpath variant..

It needs to be it's own toolpath variant because #Marketing and #HyperShill :coffee:

Only Hypermill could program that part.
