When my wife was in the hospital her nurse which was a guy had on a multicolored bracelet. Not thinking I asked him what it represented. He said it was just colors. Pretty sure he was gay. I didn't give a shit. Probably thought I was a homophobe I just care if he's a good nurse

I have some gay friends. I dated a woman who's father came out as a gay man after 30 years of marriage.  I've seen the communities of "debauchery".  Most people I've met just want to be accepted and not have to hide or be threatened by people who don't want to accept them.  Not accepting them isn't going to change who they are. I've never personally met anyone from those communities who expect to be endorsed.
They should tell their "leadership" knock off all the "Pride" shit and ramming it down people's throat.

I guess I look at these things in a 'how does this affect me' frame.

I would never take a kid to a pride parade.  I also don't go to them myself.

We have a Summer solstice parade in Fremont (suburb of Seattle) ever year. They have naked bikers ride through the streets ahead of the parade.  I wouldn't take a kid to that either. Any other day of the year these people would be labeled a sex offender.

I just ignore the things that don't affect me.  I feel like we make more of these things than we need to?

I'm not trying to preach or tell anyone what to think. Just relaying my thoughts.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

That's probably true, but having been a Judge of Election for more than 20 years you would be surprised how many couples we see come in to vote where one is a D and the other is R.

I would never say it out loud, but I often chuckle to myself wondering why they even bother when there is about a 99.9 percent probability that they are just going to cancel out each other's votes!

More accurately, you ignore the things you don't care about. to say that you ignore things that don't affect you just isn't true. It's not true for you or me or anyone else if we are being honest. If it is true it would be one of your least noble traits.

You're probably right?  I can't think of any examples at the moment.  It bothers me that people ride through the streets naked in Seattle during a solstice parade.  I don't like it so I just don't go.

When I was younger I was very libertarian minded. I thought you do you and I'll do me. Not my problem what other people do. Now I don't really feel that way anymore. Freedom requires morals to work. I think the general moral compass of America is too far off for the amount of freedom we have. We have lost our way. I don't think legislating morals is the answer, but until we have massive hardship, the kind that builds character, we will not see a resurgence of traditional Judeo Christian values that our country was founded upon. Even then we may not see it. I really don't have much hope for  mankind.

Isn't that relative. "Good" and "right" are no longer defined as absolutes.

I see you and Smit in the same instance.

Not bad people.

But no opinion until it Shits on your Porch.

Kinda like watching a car accident .

and then walking away. "Better you than me"

Not a "fence Sitter"

Just more concerned about what affects you.

lol. And you being concerned and trying to change the things that don't affect you is so much better?

Do you ever put any real thought in to this stuff? Or do any self reflection?

It affects everyone.

You seem to hold me in contempt for things just because I don't see things the way that you do.
