Ya I've been on eMC for a little over a year. Only been here for a few months. I don't post much in the general discussion forum, more of a lurker around these parts. Seems to me like most of the time very few people agree with you.

Many people here go back a long ways. We have a lot of history between us.

He has a unique manner of communicating, hence the nick name.

FFS, the guy must be over 50 years old now.  :headscratch:

Kinda figured most of the guys on here are 50+, maybe that's a bad assumption?

Probably. I expect most of the guys who migrated over from eMastercam are over 40 at least.

Byte, Youtube Bob, maybe you might be younger. But not many.

Quote from: Smit on July 29, 2024, 12:04 PMI can't see Congress ever putting term limits on themselves though.

Agreed.
I have been saying the same thing for years.
They won't consciously kick themselves off the gravy train.

As for the Supreme Court issue, Congress does have the power to regulate the Court, but that power is not unlimited.

For example, Congress cannot enact any legislation which limits or suspends the 'original jurisdiction' of the Supreme Court.
Those cases involve public officials, or cases involving states as plaintiffs or defendants.

Original Jurisdiction is established in Article III:
Quote"...all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party." - Article III, Section 2, Clause 2

So yes, Congress does generally have authority over the Supreme Court, but they need to tread lightly, keeping the principle of separation of powers in mind in any legislative actions concerning the Court.

A bit of further light reading for anyone interested...

Some of these guys have been harassing each other for 15 - 20 years.

Some go as far back as the usenet generation. Some are no longer with us.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

I cannot ever remember Smit helping one person.
Not ever.
That's because the loudest boos come from the cheapest seats.

They have nothing to offer the group or the trade except sharpest of criticisms.

Thankfully the shitbirds don't rule the roost... they just hang around to crap all over everything.

 So true.

Usenet.... oooof. Man that's a trip in the wayback machine. I was a lurker back then. Dial up to Cal Poly Pomona's VAX then out to to the Bulletin Boards.... Just a kid in my mid-20's Until eMastercam came along. There was a massive need for online help and thankfully Dave Thompson (RIP) saw the need and filled it.

So many life long relationships were forged there.
