If your dates are correct, eMC is older than me by a few months

It's clear to see yall have been around the block a few times together with how you talk to each other. Even the hottest arguments tend to end with some kind of consensus or "agree to disagree" but we're still mates.

eMC was founded on the spring of 2000
I signed up in August 2000.
I had just purchased a high dollar video card, it didn't work well with Mastercam,
I was looking for advice and my dealer referred me to eMC.

Drifting a little further off topic, but I was also part of the early 2000's eMC gang.  8)

I attended a multiaxis training session at my Mastercam reseller facility around 2002 or 03, and the instructor logged in on the eMC board near the end of the training and gave us a quick walkthrough.
He told us it was a great Mastercam resource, and that turned out to be an understatement!

I learned more back in the day on eMC from guys like Hardmill, Ron a.k.a Crazy Millman, and Iskander (RIP) than I can ever describe.
Those guys along with many others bailed me out of many a jam by simply sharing their knowledge and experience, which in turn made my job far less stressful.
For that, I will be forever grateful.

IIRC, eMC was just mostly tech support back then, until they decided to open the infamous 'Off Topic' forum, then it was on like Donkey Kong!

Yeah, we have had our share of debates over the years, sometimes heated, and plenty of ball-busting, but I have always tried to be respectful to everyone, and there is not a member of the old forum or this newer version that I would not like to meet IRL and buy them a beer.

They added the Off Topic forum because too much off topic stuff was showing up in the main forum.
It was fine for years, but always heated up during US Presidential elections.
Eventually they shut it down and blew out the archive.
A lot of good stuff died that day.
I still laugh about "squatting dragon/hidden email"

Not sure how many usernames I've had, or when I joined eMC, but I started with Mastercam in '98/'99 when I was TA'ing in college and taught a class the basics of V8. (Yes, V8, not X8.) Started using MC professionally in 2000 with V9.

I don't really do any programming anymore (they leave the fun stuff to the kids) but I do get to decide when and for whom to buy new seats, so it's still in my blood. I lurk around here mostly for fun and to be a PIA to all of the Nutcons here. Micro, Tyler, and Evil have been favorites over the years for the same reasons. Rekd and Joe788 (he used to keep track of his employees' bathroom time  ;D ) were especially fun to fuck with. At least we still have Nutboy; the image of him having a meltdown at his keyboard is what keeps me coming back, even after a long hiatus.

I'd buy a cold beverage for anyone on this board, but I doubt anyone would buy one for me. All in good fun, though.

don't sweat it
it's just election year grandstanding to fire up the ignorant masses, nothing more.
the chances of it becoming law are less than zero.

Speaker Johnson told Schumer his bill was dead on arrival in the House.
When asked about this Biden replied that Speaker Johnson was dead on arrival.
One could take that as a threat on the Speaker's life, but we all know Biden has no idea what he's actually saying

Quote from: CNCAppsJames on July 30, 2024, 12:29 AMI've had 2 other logins at eMC. CNC Apps Guy and Foghorn Leghorn. The first one I burned because Cryler was an ass and I was sick her bullshit. I burned Foghorn Leghorn because Danielle banned me because someone asked the question about online training and I pointed them to like 2 resources.  I mistakenly omitted eMC. I wasn't aware they had online training at the time. So told Danielle to delete my account.

The only reason I came back is because the President of my company personally requested I go back. He said he was hearing complaints from customers that " I wasn't accessible in a format they liked to frequent...". So I obliged. Honestly I'd torch my IG account too if I didn't have about a half-dozen customers that use that medium for support as well.

That said, I'm either member eMC #53 or #58. I signed up within a month or two of it's creation. It was May 2000 IIRC. I'm not sure who has been around the longest.

If I had to guess... my eMC post count is for sure north of 30,000 and possibly north of 40,000. That's with taking a 2-3 year hiatus.
That thing about the training is dumb, why would they do that

Because it's free service.
If a customer can get a problem solved for free on eMC, they aren't bothering Customer Support

The VAST majority of people residing within the USA and it's territories have no idea that 1) The process is outlined in Article V of The US Constitution, 2) It would take 2/3 of the Congress ( 353 or 354 Senators and House Members I can't recall off the top of my head which) to agree  Those swamp rats can't even agree that the sky is blue... , or 3) A  Constitutional Convention. Even fewer know what that is because NONE of the 27 Amendments in the Constitution were proposed in this way... which is 2/.3 of the State Legislatures.

POTUS has NO ROLE Constitutionally speaking in this process which is good because the current incontinent octogenarian can't even navigate a flight of stairs let alone the Constitution.

The only think I can think of is they were annoyed with me anyway. A long time ago I took screenshots of the interaction between Danielle and I and posted them somewhere... maybe in Thee Circle Slack Channel... I don't remember because I knew nobody would believe it... I didn't even believe it.

Yea, that was pretty dumb.  You would think they would at least issue some kind of warning saying don't advertise other training outlets without mentioning ours or something.

The Tyler thing I was a bit on the fence about.  There were quite a few people saying some pretty mean shit to each other back then.  It felt like James had the "I bring something to the table and you don't" leverage, which he wasn't wrong.  I didn't get to see how that played out behind the scenes (or if there even was a behind the scenes) but I remember when he removed his account and disappeared for a while.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Come to think of it, there were several people who either deleted their accounts over some kind of disagreement, or because they were banned.  If you ever do a search on EMC and come across some good information, there is a chance that it will be from a "guest" account.  :D

Yeah, they REALLY hated the fact that despite my sometimes atrocious behavior online, I do in fact bring A LOT of information and experience to the game, and I don't really withhold anything... except maybe MTB IP type stuff. In the cases where specific MTB stuff that should be handled discreetly was asked about, I took it offline, verified customer status, communicated via e-mails or other proper channels. I did this even for people that personally I may have been at odds with (like the one who shall not be named). He worked for a customer of ours for about a cup of coffee, and I gave him the same level of MACHINE support I would give anyone. He was pissed I would not talk Mastercam with him. Waaaaaa. Call your Mastercam dealer.

I don't know that she's entirely wrong about that?  Climate change and Israel.  Probably the two drivers in lost support for younger generations.
