Yes, I know.  You've answered some of my questions even when I thought you may not have cared for me much.

Quote from: neurosis on July 30, 2024, 07:53 AMCome to think of it, there were several people who either deleted their accounts over some kind of disagreement, or because they were banned.  If you ever do a search on EMC and come across some good information, there is a chance that it will be from a "guest" account.  :D
There's probably a half-dozen or so REALLY solid dudes that went that route.

The REALLY suck thing about how a lot of things went down... it was behind the scenes. When shit gets done that way, it leaves people's imaginations to run wild. Things should have been discussed out in the open and either there is an agreement to disagree, an agreement to part ways, or an agreement to work things out.

I was a Moderator there for a number of years too - though I relinquished that responsibility because the shitbirds at Thermwood Router whined to CNC Software because I was calling out their shit machines. So CNC went to IHS and IHS asked me to take some of my posts down (Posts of a technical nature that REALLY reflected poorly on their machines). I refused because I did not say one thing that was untrue. I felt the only way I could continue was to discontinue as a moderator.

I think I was only really sore at you once... you called me out for not being prepared for a demo (100% true). There were reasons why I was not as prepared as I would have typically been which I don't want to go into publicly.... but I built a bridge and got over it.

Would they have asked the same if you weren't a moderator?

I remember when Bob Wolcott made a post and some video's about how shitty Haas machines are after he was turned on to Makinos.

We've all talked about how shit some machines are in our industry. Maybe not from an AE perspective.

Ahh.. you still did a good job.  You wrote a program in about 20 minutes or so.

The only real reason I was sent down was to see the footprint of the machine and look at a Fanuc control that didn't have a Mori front end (we a lot of Mori's back in those days).  We knew nothing about Toyoda machines. The hard metal (4340 so not too hard) was to see how rigid the machine was.  We machined almost all hard metals back in those days.

You guys still sell the Toyodas?  If not, what's your opinion on them today?

We ended up going with the Mori and it had nothing to do with you. We had a very good relationship with Ellison at the time so it wasn't going to matter. Or at least that was the feeling I got. Local support was really important and I don't think that Toyoda had any at the time.

and in both cases their opinions are formed by wildly inaccurate propaganda.

I'm sure that some is.  I'm not sure how taxing the shit out of the middle class in one or two States is going to fix climate change for example.

As Neil deGrasse Tyson says.  If you want proof of a change in climate follow plant migration.

I stay out of the Israel argument.

Others

I believe Rekd is back under a new handle. but I could be wrong.
Joe788 was not banned AFIK, he just quit coming around.

CrazyMillMan (Ron) left here and requested his account be deleted, though I'm not sure why.

These forums are alot like real life ... people come and people go... sometimes to never be heard of again

Like Awbade

He just stopped coming to eMC and AFIK, no one has ever heard from him again.

Plants have migrated for eons. The Sahara was once lush and green, and the Amazon was once dry, much of the US was covered in a mile thick glacier, etc

I absolutely believe in change in climate, but I believe it is a natural occurrence, far outside the scope of
puny humans to change.... and climate change is not the same as pollution which is caused by humans

I'm not smart enough to claim that I know either way. This is sorta like the vaccine debate? We pick and chose studies.

I do believe that States like Washington State and their carbon credit approach is just another money transfer from the middle class to the poor.

Shit. I'm starting to sound like youdoug.   :D

We've all talked about how shit some machines are in our industry. Maybe not from an AE perspective.
From my understanding (based on discussions with our Service Department and our Sales Department) Wolcott was sore because he found some "issues" with Haas that he figured out the solution for and Haas didn't care. They were not going to make any changes... which is 100% their prerogative.

I had that discussions about various things with Haas with my dad who was a Service Tech for an HFO in SoCal BITD... my dad was like "if they would 'just' do this one thing it would solve .....". At that time of those discussions with my dad I was working for Mori Seiki so I was able to give a perspective from an MTB. My dad wasn't satisfied, but he at least understood.

Wolcott... never understood. In his mind he was right and Haas was wrong ( 100% his prerogative) so he talked shit. We never did business with him after that. Makino was infallible in his mind. He threatened to buy a Matsuura twice, asked a bunch of questions then ghosted me. After the 2nd ghost I was done and so was our sales staff. My spidey senses tell me he was fishing for information for his boys at Makino and wasn't serious... which is really fucked up because I dropped everything to run down that info. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
