For me that's mostly fat.

I was taught to make yourself presentable.

I agree with this to an extent. A working person in a job that doesn't provide uniforms that goes to the store in their dirty work clothes (T-shirt/jeans/etc) should not feel like they are less than someone wearing fine clothes. An honest days work should be respected.

An ex-girlfriend once dragged me to a wedding in the middle of farmtown MN. One of the hottest days of the year and she forced me to wear a full suit and tie. Walk into the church and everyone looks like they just came from either the bar or the field. Most in shorts and Ts. Even the wedding party was wearing jeans. Needless to say I was the most overdressed and out of place person there. Want to feel like an ass under a microscope? Do that.

But I will say, they were some of the funnest and likeable people you ever met once the party started.

I was a jeans and T-shirt guy 99% of the time.
In the last few years I've been wearing clean collared shirts more often.
There is unmistakably a little more respect that comes with it.

Every girl is crazy about a sharp dressed man

So day to day working with my hands and mostly handle winding.
<12 months later Company moved buildings so the dept closed and I moved into the DO and 1st day of new job arrived in shirt and tie and black trousers.
Shoes too!
Mentor looked me up and down with a smile, and announced to the Engineering Dept, "well, it proves if you put a pig in a suite, you still have a pig"....:hrhr:

Quote from: mowens on July 31, 2024, 07:30 AMI usually wear jeans and a polo shirt to work so that's what I wear most everywhere. In warm weather it's shorts and a t shirt if I'm not working.

I used to go to the liquor store wearing whatever I happened to be wearing. A few times it was pajama pants, a t shirt and flip flops. I'm sure I set a few hearts a flutter.

They are prolly still trying to figure out the Jump in 8 a.m. sales. ;D  :wine:

I will say there are a few times I have had the great idea of going out by myself to breakfast at Dennys.

Got home and realized my pants zipper was undone and my shirt was inside out. ;D
