I thought I would start a "What are you reading thread". I had not read a book for the last 15 to 20 years. Now that I am somewhat retired, I have more free time. In the last month I have finished 2 books and just started a third. Wasn't sure I could stick to it, but found that I am really enjoying it.

Here's what I have read so far:

Brutal Journey by Paul Schneider. A fascinating story of the first traverse across the continent by a Spanish expedition (Narvaez) in the early 1500's. From the 300 hundred that landed in Florida, it took eight years to reach the Pacific by only 4 survivors. But what those four endured was mind boggling.

Undaunted Courage by Stephen E. Ambrose. It's about the Lewis and Clark expedition. That journey was really equivalent to the moon landing of our time. Lewis and Thomas Jefferson were the driving force behind the expedition. Although they were successful, the book ends on a sad note for Lewis. (I won't reveal it)

Currently Reading:

The Wager by David Grann. "A tale of SHIPWRECK, MUTINY and Murder" What more can you ask for in a book!

What are you reading or have read?

Currently reading By Water Beneath the Walls by Ben Milligan and Black Rednecks and White Liverals by Thomas Sowell.

I read quite a lot. Mostly Non-Fiction. Probably a dozen/dozen and a half per year on top of new laws on the books related to firearms in states where I travel, the lawsuits related to such laws, and rulings, and whatever else I find interesting.

You can get the journals of Lewis and Clark and read first hand about the journey. I did that quite a while back. I'm thinking I need to dig that back out and read again.

I was doing audiobooks pretty steadily at work for a long time, now I am listening to more podcasts.
(Mostly true crime, some political...)

Now that ghuns mentioned the Scott Harvath series I will have to pick that back up again because I really like those books.
I think I left off around #15, so I will have some catching up to do.

My other favorite books in that same genre are the Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn, and now Kyle Mills after Vince passed away.
I will need to revisit that series as well...

A Life In Parts.
Bryan Cranston biography.
Not a book I would have picked myself but my son gifted it to me and I'm glad he did.
Much more interesting than I expected.
I wish I had more time to read.
I use to read every day, now mostly when I'm on holidays I'll make sure to have a book handy.
I like biographies, history and true stories.
Life is more fascinating to me than fiction.

I had kin on the Lewis and Clark expedition. The Fields brothers are on my mom's side.

Currently reading "Trading Options for Dummies", cause I'm a dummy! I find the stock market and the financial system fascinating and I have 4 more finance books in the office at home to move on to.

I have been through the entire Jack Ryan & Jack Ryan Jr books....I think a new on just dropped so that will end up on the list..

I have also been through the entire Mitch series....I do believe now that Don Bentley is in that I am 1 or 2 books behind which will also get done at some point.

I have a bunch of Holocaust related books that I will be working through as well over the coming months.

I have several Civil War era books on my file cabinet that are just awaiting the sit down time....

Between reading and audio I have a voracious appetite
