How livid would you be if you found out the shop owner decided to set up the 3rd party door security using the last four digits of employees SSN as the pin number to disable the alarm?

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Jeff

WTF?
Did that happen at your work?

Yes.  In the bosses defense, he is completely illiterate when it comes to computers or security of any type.

I had some less than kind words and had my pin changed.

The most disturbing part of this was that he had to send the list of passwords/pin numbers to the security company.    :censored:

Wow-that is pretty amazing....jeez. I don't even like submitting this sort of info in person (I can often use the EIN for the biz instead of any portion of the SSN).

And what's up with folks wanting you to provide your cell # for "security" (I get this occasionally on LinkedIn for some reason). I swear to god, is the entire web just a big "spy on all the users all the time" scam, or am I just getting old and cranky? (Honest question by the way-LOL).

A lot of financial institutions will use it as a security question for access to your accounts.

Same here. The government knows more about me than I do.
I decided to fight identity theft by maintaining such poor credit that nobody wants it.
