They were granted a patent to allow them to play ads on your radio screen and over the speakers.

"It can be configured to silently display ads when people are talking then enable the audio when people are not.

Additionally, it can be configured to listen to specific keywords in your conversation that indicate the cars destination, providing ads about the destination."

It's great to see that our US automakers are taking the lead in this important matter! Yay team!

This sounds like the worst of Amazon's Alexa and being stuck in traffic all rolled into one....

More like they hold the patent and will probably be licensing it to tech companies so those companies can bombard any vehicle with ads, not just Ford.

Just one more reason to buy an older model of anything

Our phones do the same thing so it's no surprise the car manufacturers want in on that too... :wallbash:

Close, but this is a patent on playing a video ad on the radio screen as you're driving down the road.
And listening to your conversations "to better target ads to you"

Cali recently passed a law requiring cars to start yelling at you if you exceed the speed limit by 10 mph.
This will apply to cars built in 2030 and beyond.
Unfortunately, the Cali car market is large enough that auto makers just follow Cali laws for all cars
rather than make different cars for different markets.
The scary part is... speeding 10 mph+ over the limit will no longer be a ticket, it will be a crime.

The freeway I travel to and from work has a 65mph speed limit.
The flow of traffic is always 75 to 85 mph.
It is not safe to drive 65.
At 65, you are like a rock in a mountain stream, backing up 4 lanes of cars with people doing insane shit
to get around you.

Not if you identify as a latino illegal immigrant! They'll probably offer you a couple hundred bucks for them inconveniencing you with a traffic stop.

Luckily, more than likely I'll only have to buy one more vehicle. It will NOT be a Fucked Over Recycled Daihatsu I can guarantee that.

We are down to one vehicle. I sold my 2019 Ram. No longer working me and the wife pretty much do everything together and one vehicle was just sitting for days at a time.
