I think this was always going to be his last term anyway.

If the R's win back control of the Senate in either the mid-term, or the 2024 election, he has no guarantee of being elected Majority Leader, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Otherwise he will wheel and deal as much as possible in his last term to likely set himself up for a cushy retirement.

The big red flag that is a constant throughout life is that when someone does nothing but blame other people a.k.a Cuomo, Pelosi, Schumer, AOC, etc... they are trying to divert the attention away from themselves for doing exactly what they are accusing someone of.
Scream loud and scream often. The entirety of the last 5 years are a testament to this line of thinking.
