Damn.  We bought a big box of these things back when they were only about $40 each.

They wear out over time and need replaced but I'm thinking that it might be time to set up a machine and make a bunch of these for ourselves.

It's a self centering dovetail fixture.  They were quite popular around this area back in the early 2000's. The company that makes them is only about a 30 minute drive and back in those days, these things didn't cost the blood of your new born children.

We were going to go that way...

I requested models so that we could start laying out...they demanded a signed NDA...

I told the them to eff off and went with 5th Axis instead. I would make my own before giving them my business

The design of these are so basic I just modeled my own. It only took a few hours to model every Technigrip we have.

These things have been excellent for us but if I had to buy them now, I would go a different route.

If we have some down time I could make these things easily. We've already made 100's of the locating dowels. They wear out too.  The clamps would be the trickiest part but it would be worth it if you make enough.

Early-mid 2000's I was using them. After 2008-ish I started using Raptor because 1) They (Techni-grip)were such a PITA to deal with, 2)They pretty much stopped innovating the product, and 3) I'm an OEM. If I can't get CAD by asking for it, no problem. I won't use or recommend your product then. It REALLY is as simple as that. They aren't the only show in town.

such a small world. I worked for and did some design work for Techni-Grip. Sorry it fell off the edge, I mostly worked the background engineering part BECAUSE I did not like the sales games played. Jus sayen. as mentioned easy to reverse engineer and as far as I know unless you go out selling them that is fair game. yes the clamps are a tad harder to make but keep in mind you can make these on a techni-grip. lol then heat treat if you wish.
hope I have not broken my NDA, LOL never signed one but will stay cautious.

Interesting.  I had a friend that worked for JWD back in the 90's.  I'm not 100% sure, but I think he worked there when they came up with the concept. He even remembers where the idea for the clamps came from.

He was the guy who talked me in to trying them. I was skeptical at first but they were super convenient, and back in those days, didn't have much (if any) competition for self centering dovetail fixturing.

LOL I have 100's of these all made in house. I bought some from them at first and was like WTF thats insanely expensive but needed to get up and running. Their design is stupid as well. The counter bore in the clamp is slightly too small for a stock 1/2-13 SHCS so you have to turn down the head by like .02ish thou. I make them so they would accept a standard SHCS.

I have these integrated into my pallets for my 5ax cell. They hold EXTREEMLY well. IMHO they hold better than any other style of dovetail because they have solid material under the dovetail instead of air like most systems.

I can say with confidence that the quick change pallet clamping pin will pull out of the quick change sustem before the technigrip dovetail will let go. Don't ask me how I know....

Oh and also to add their quality sucked ass. I had to exchange 2 of them because a bolt would no thread all the way thru. Some even had sawn edges on them. Overall not impressed at all. Good thing we can make things ourselves!
