BREAK FROM POLITICS.....

Next week I'm scheduled to fly to Okinawa for two weeks for work.  Anyone ever been? I did get an international driver's permit, but I don't know about driving on the WRONG side of the road in the WRONG side of the car.

No Incog, I will not bring you a lady back...

Old man I used to work with in the coal mines said he got the same thing every birthday. A piece of pussy and a pair of socks. He said they were both too big.

That would be cool, I'd love to go some day.

Driving on the wrong side of the road would be hard. I've got too many years of muscle memory working against me.

Many Asian countries have a service something like Uber. I used one called GRAB. It may reduce your chances of an awful wrong lane collision while you're there. :)

:Edit: and post pictures!

I spent a year there with the Marine Corp, at Camp Schwab on the northern end of the island.
I don't recall driving on the left side of the road though. I had a military driver's license and got stuck
on battalion duty driver a lot, driving a rusted out Jeep all over the place.
I only got to the big city on the south end of the island once.
The locals hated us and being out in town alone was a good way to get killed.

Yup.
That's why Uber or a similar service would be your friend in Japan.

I have never been, but a good buddy of mine was stationed in Okinawa for a year when he was in the Marines, and he said it was the best duty of his 6 year career.

You'll be OK.. it was just Marines they hated...and that was nearly 50 years ago.
Some of it was old grudges from WW2
Some of it was because Oki was used for R&R for guys in Vietnam and those guys were very rough with Asians
Some of it was that a lot of young Marines in foreign lands treated the locals very badly.
When I was there the Vietnam war had only been over for a couple of years and things were still pretty raw.
The local people still want the Marines gone though, and most of them will be leaving Oki in the next couple of years.

Down south around Kadena Air Station the locals want that air base gone too.
That's mostly about noise though.. what used to be an airbase in the middle of nowhere is now surrounded by a
large city.... and military aircraft are very very noisy.

That's like moving next to a gun range or race track, then complaining about the noise.

I was there when I was in the Marines at Camp Hansen, 1978 and again in 1980. The little town outside the base had at least 250 bars, it was a party every time we left the base. At 18 years old, I wasn't smart enough to take in the culture.
