exactly. there is nuance to every issue. None of them are black and white. 

"you don't have to pay tariffs if it's made in America" is a good example. That's a lazy argument for something that is much more complex.

And if you're interested, trump was on the PBD podcast a couple days ago. They had a great discussion. He brought up the tariff issue. The story he told was shortly after issuing his first round of tariffs against China, Tim Cook CEO of Apple called him and said he could no longer compete with Samsung with them in place because they aren't in China. They discussed it and Trump granted him a waiver for 1 year, but only if they bring manufacturing back to US. Guess what, they built a new plant in Texas. They stopped when the new administration came in because they likely didn't want to work with him, but that is exactly what the tariffs were/are designed to do.
