My boss was handed a business and all he had to do was use the contacts and the backlog he was given to keep it going. That doesn't make him a genius.

I think I should have imposed some criteria for the thread.    

This wasn't supposed to be about debating issues that you already know that I would disagree on. If you ask if I like Trump you're already going to know the answer and you already know you're going to be mad about it.  It was supposed to be to uncover misconceptions people might have.

Aren't all atheists technically agnostic?  Or at least I would say that I hope someone who considers themselves to be an atheist, isn't arrogant enough to think they know more than anyone else. If you asked me to prove that there isn't a god, I know that I can't any more than you can prove that there is.

When Matt was in here I always thought he acted like he felt that it was his job to change peoples mind about religion. I don't see it that way and never agreed with his perspective. The only thing I think that he and I would agree on is that I don't want religion, and that mean any, forced on me. 

My views on religion have a lot to do with my journey through life.  I was religious when I was young.

A lot of that has to do with the contacts his dad left when he passed and the employees that in place helping him along the way. Who by the way, he didn't appreciate until after they retired and figured out how much those people actually brought to the table. Now that they're gone, he's struggling. The shop foreman is who was really running the shop. He retired several years back and his absence was felt immediately.


I do give him some credit for pulling through covid.

The reason I turned my back on religion; between the ages of 5 and 11, I watched my sister and several of my cousins get molested and abused by people who called themselves christians, while my mom, who also called herself a christian, slept her way across the better part of Texas. My saving grace was my dad, who was in prison at the time, was ex military and known to be a wacko, would kill someone if he found out they ever touched me (my sister and I have different fathers, big surprise?). Most of these kids were around my age give or take a few years.  It was pretty fucking disgusting.

My sister is surprisingly well adjusted.  She went deeper in to religion as a crutch. So much so that her and I don't talk anymore. 

When I was 50 I found out that I had another brother who my mom had adopted out.  I think I talked to him just enough to tell him how lucky he was that he didn't have to stay.  lol.

So to answer that question, you don't even have to be butt fucked by a priest to turn your back on religion?

Well, Del, sorry.  I answered that as best as I could. Since in my opinion, the two concepts have some overlap, it's impossible for me to answer with a black or white response. If that answer isn't satisfactory that isn't a me problem.
