I wouldn't have considered my grandfather a racist, but he always called brazil nuts XXX toes.  I think that was more a greatest generation thing...

Edit: I don't recall ever hearing that. Brazil nuts were to high brow for my family, I guess.

My dad was the same way. He used to ask my daughter if she wanted a ni**er cookie. I'd say. Come on dad, don't say that. Just the way he grew up.
