Memphis cool things to do

I'm thinking of going on a road trip to New Orleans and consideriing making an overnight stop in Memphis.

Anybody have recommendation on cool things to see in Memphis? Or really special restaurants to hit while I'm there?

I'm not a big Elvis guy but I've heard it's a cool town.

I'm a big blues so I would like to check out Beale street, though its likely full of tourists and all that goes with that.

I spent a few nights there... can't tell you where I went... or what I did.... but I do remember it being alot of fun and I did almost miss my flight the next day. This was 5+ years ago not sure if the town is safe to stumble around drunk in anymore but I just asked people where to go and ended up having a great time!

The wrong side of Memphis is fuckin wild, as in not the good kinda wild.
Some areas are alright, good food and drinks can be found.  Not what I call a good place to vacation.  I feel much safer in New Orleans over Memphis
