It just boggles the mind, doesn't it? And remember that MIT isn't for dummies, either....

Few years ago we had an MIT intern who got hired full time. She has a certain way of talking, almost like she's trying to use big words on purpose.

Last winter I got to go to an MIT seminar. "AI with a focus on manufacturing" it was pretty interesting for the most part. At one point they had 3 alumni talk about their internships, where they ended up, and q and a after.

All I could think about the whole presentation is how all 3 of them sounded IDENTICAL to my coworker from MIT. They did the same pauses, the same needless big words, even the expressions they used were ones I've heard from my coworker. It was kinda scary.

I suspect those words are out of favor in today's MIT, replaced by LGBT and DEI and a host of other liberal buzzwords I can't remember.

It IS indeed sad what many of our nation's most prized institutions have turned into. It used to be someone that had a degree from MIT was an automatic hire, same with CalTech. Today, #NotSoMuch

Depends on what your goal is. 

If you care about having your name attributed to stuff, yeah, you gotta play the game. If you wanna just DO stuff and don't care about the superfluous shiite, there's no need to play their stupid games to win their stupid prizes.
