QuoteNEW: A ruling from the State Supreme Court today finds that the state's felony drug possession law, as written, is unconstitutional. The court says the statute serves to "criminalize innocent and passive possession, even by a defendant who does not know, and has no reason to know, that drugs lay hidden within something that they possess." In other words, the court believes that simply finding drugs on someone's person or in their car, for example, is not enough to prove they had "intent" to possess those drugs.
IN SHORT: Felony drug possession in Washington state just got legalized unless legislature intervenes.

If you buy a used car and a cop pulls you over and finds drugs in the upholstery, should you go to prison and lose your 2A rights?

I think that the concern right now is more that you can be trafficking drugs, hide them in the trunk of your car and just say that you didn't know that they were there, and get off.  That, and what implications does this have for people who have already been convicted. Do they just get off now because they claimed that they didn't know that they had drugs on them?

I'll have to hear more about this decision. I've just read some headlines and some small very vague articles on this.

Soda is bad. Nobody should drink that stuff.

Heroin isn't OK but the "war on drugs" is very bad.
