Very possible, but what then of the people that have turned him in to a hero of sorts? it reminds me of the Jesse James type thing, where he stole and killed the people that other people also didn't like so he was heroicized in their minds.

Back in the old west "He needed killing" was an adequate defense for shooting somebody.

Seriously though, in reality I don't think many people are supportive of an individual going around shooting people they don't like.

It speaks volumes that so many people are so outspoken about the CEO of a health insurance company being murdered.

So de-regulation that Reagan (oops that was one good thing Carter did) did to the airline? I remember my dad complaining about the cost of coast-to-coast tickets in that were $400 (IIRC) in 1978 dollars.

Deregulation was great....but we're now ultimately in MomCorp world where engineered cross-pollination of share structure has led to Van/Black/State control....but 95% don't realise because the company kept their original name!
Great tactic which has fooled the masses....and the rest just don't care

Quote from: gcode on December 10, 2024, 07:05 AMTort reform is also desperately needed.
The premiums doctors and hospitals pay for liability insurance are a large part of the insane prices
we pay for healthcare.
The threat of getting sued is also a big driver of decisions made about whether or not to perform a needed surgery.
Many fields on medicine are chronically understaffed as the risks of lawsuits are too high.

Some research shows that these costs range between 2.4-10 percent of all health care costs, with most studies falling at the 2.4% number. While still excessive, it isn't the massive number that is bandied about by the de-regulation crowd. (aka insurance lobby)

It is shameful that our entire health care system is driven by profit, and not the well being of it's citizens.

I don't really think it's fair to say that the "entire" health system is driven by profit. On the frontlines of medicine, General Practitioners and Specialists are very concerned about their patients. That is my experience. But when you get in to Hospital administration, Pharmaceuticals, Medical devices, and Insurance, it is probably a different story. The difference is whether or not decision makers are encountering the patients or making decisions from a desk.

Just last night, my daughters Oncologist, texted her from his personal cell phone at 8pm to tell her, her Pet scan she had earlier in the day showed positive signs. I know she is not his only patient,by far, but he made her feel like that last night.

You have it exactly backward as usual. As I understand (or not) industry lobbyist, they are the ones pushing for ever increasing regulations to snuff out smaller competition in the crib.
