• The House Ethics Committee found evidence that former Rep. Matt Gaetz paid tens of thousands of dollars to women for sex or drugs on at least 20 occasions, including paying a 17-year-old girl for sex in 2017, according to a final draft of the panel's report on the Florida Republican, obtained by CNN.

"The Committee determined there is substantial evidence that Representative Gaetz violated House Rules and other standards of conduct prohibiting prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, impermissible gifts, special favors or privileges, and obstruction of Congress," the 37-page report concludes.

On Monday, Gaetz filed a lawsuit in federal court to block the release of the report, saying that he is now a private citizen and not subject to the jurisdiction of the committee.

I'm just curious as to why charges were never brought? I meas... those are serious charges for an every-day Joe. For a sitting congressman?  Even worse.

Because a hooker and a sex trafficker aren't "credible witnesses" so they said they couldn't get a conviction.  I'll bet if this were you or I, they wouldn't have dropped the case.

Since he's no longer in Congress he's out of the woods on everything but maybe the statutory rape charge. If there's solid proof then he may still be charged in criminal court, eh?

Congressional ethics rules and policies are pretty much a joke.

They aren't credible witnesses. The payments weren't smoking gun enough? Nevermind... i just remembered Chappaquiddick... they had the body of Mary Jo Kopecne and darling of the left Teddy Kennedy got to live his life carefree. 

Still, they should have at least charged Gaetz.
