Yes.. my business partner back then owned a house in Garden Grove Ca.
He'd live there for twenty years and his house payment was around $300/month.
He had about $300K in equity and took out a variable rate 2nd to pay for his daughters wedding.
Then he took out some more to pay his Federal taxes and a vacation on a cruise ship.
He let that 2d ride when he could have paid it off, and during the Carter years the interest rate
ballooned to 21%. He couldn't make the payment and lost his house.
To make matters worse, he still owed capital gains taxes on the equity he had in the house.
He was making payments on that for another 15 years.
The icing on the cake was, the marraige he lost his house over didn't last 2 years.

So, your business partner was a financial idiot. Show me how that was Carter's fault. (Oops, forgot. You're a republican so everything is always someone else's fault.)

Hopefully you at least had enough sense to not stay partners with him for too long.
