I saw a young guy lose hundreds of dollars playing  blackjack, in just a few minutes. He place s big bet, then lose a hand then go to atm, obviously getting more and more desperate.
The pit boss tried to get him to stop, even offering to buy him dinner.

It was sad.

I've never been to Vegas, but I would like to so I can cross it off my list.

I used to live by a horse track, would go there a few times a year, have a couple drinks and throw a couple bucks on the 100/1 type horses. Cheap entertainment. Never bet on other sports as it seems confusing to me and never paid close enough attention to sports anyway.

Don't go to the Resorts!!

Off The strip Hotels are much better and Have more Amenities.

Don't get sucked in by the Deals.

Casinos off the strip have better rooms and deals.

They are Not Advertised But have waaaay better options for food and such.

Lexor Hotel waaay over priced and a bottle of Patron 68$ in house 750ml.

all prices in side the Hotel are tripled. :(

I used to gamble a good bit.  The funny thing is, I felt like I had a pretty good year going 50%.  Some ups, some downs, but the house mostly wins.

My backwards ass state won't let you participate in online sports betting.  Not solving anything, I can name at least 3 bookies around my area.

Now I just get on football boards, or squares.

I've never bet on sports other than among friends. Like many have said, I don't know enough nor do I have a desire to learn about the in's and out's of it.

I've got enough sense to know that for me I would not just let it be a source of entertainment.

I'm not a gambler either, at least in the traditional sense.
I have made 'buy-me-a-beer' kind of bets with friends on football or basketball games, but that's about it.

I have also been in a few of those buy-a-square Super Bowl things and won a few bucks here and there on those, but that's the extent of my spending real money betting on sporting events.

As for casinos I have never been to Vegas, but I have been on a few bus trips to Atlantic City for a day where we spent most of our time on the boardwalk and did very little gambling.

We recently stayed overnight at a Mohegan Sun casino not far from home, but we went because they had a really good AC/DC tribute band there that we wanted to see.
There is no admission for the concerts, but the casino makes their money on the food and drink concessions, and many people also hit the casino before or after the show.
My Mrs. and I didn't spend any money gambling, but we did book a room overnight, and they have a couple of good restaurants there that we wanted to try, so we did spend some money on that.

I also enjoy a few online poker websites, but I only play with virtual chips just for fun and don't spend any real money doing it.
I could easily see myself spending way more money than I would like to on that, so I just choose to not go down that road at all.

If we're having a friendly game of Poker and there's a good game or fight on in the background I'll throw 5 or 10$ to make it more interesting but that's it.

I used to play poker with friends years ago. I enjoyed it but lost most of the time. They always played low hand takes half the pot. It builds good pots but I hated it.

The wife and I went to Las Vegas a few years ago. She had a business convention and I went along for the fun of it, so while she was doing work things I was doing Larry things. I didn't do much gambling, only one time because the wife wanted to. Lost some quick money to slots and didn't have much fun doing it.

On the rare occasions we go to the Casinos around here we go for the crab leg or prime rib buffets. I get my moneys worth on those meals. If the people we go with want to gamble I'll play video poker just to stay amused. You can play a long time on those machines for $20 so that's kind of fun.

And we do get together for Texas hold 'em poker games on occasion. $10 buy in and play for a few hours, winner takes the pot.
