We'll see if the 2nd one produces any side effects

My niece (a breast oncology specialist and surgeon) felt fine after her 1st dose. Got pretty sick for a few days after the 2nd dose. However, she was in no danger or anything...just felt lousy a few days. A good reaction, she said. "the vaccine is doing its job". That was a month ago. All good.

Quote from: Newbeeee™ post_id=8075 time=1615224579 user_id=157Dan - where are you reading this data saying if you have a jab it doesn't pass the nastybug on?
I'm reading the jab doesn't stop you catching it or passing it on.
And as for effectiveness - that's all up in the air too from what i read. Afterall...no one has been jabbed and stuck in a room and had the bug introduced to them in a controlled manner...

Ah yes. I may have conveyed that. I really don't know. CDC said today people who are vaccinated can hang out indoors in close proximity. But yes, not sure about transmissions. (I stand corrected)

So Ohio is opening up a vaccine super center soon. 6,000 a day. So, you wait in line, indoors, for a few hours before getting the shot.

I'm in no rush. I'll wait (survived for the past year).

No and I have had every vaccine to date.
And My Kids.

I'll Pass.

See you on the other side.

My decision My Choice.

Fuck you.

You're old (about same age as me). Wait for the J&J shot. One dose. It's NOT mRNA like the others. They modified a dead cold virus. More like a flu shot-type. There's a small probability this virus could make us really sick. My co-worker was in hospital. Said he struggled catching his breath. 2 months later he still has issues breathing. Only mid 40's. The f'ing virus is like playing Russian Roulette. Most are fine. A few....die.

Ima gonna hang out and wait for the J&J vaccine on the advice of my doc.

Waaaaaaaaaaay too many severe allergic reactions to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. It's why they make you wait 15 minutes after getting them to leave.

As someone whose had a couple a severe allergic reactions, I'm not pushing my luck.

Good call.

This whole mRNA vaccine concept is the biggest live experiment ever conducted in human history.
As someone who was already Uncle Sam's lab rat once when I was in the military, I will stay in the un-vaccinated 'control' group for as long as possible.

If push comes to shove, the J&J vaccine will be the one I will choose as well because it is a traditional vaccine rather than an unproven mass experiment.

Quote from: JParis post_id=7985 time=1614969216 user_id=139I had two friends, not unlike myself, overweight and diabetic, both contract it and suffer greatly. One was in ICU for 3 weeks and nearly died, the other, not so dramatic but is still somewhat down nearly 6 weeks later.

As I said in my OP....

I too was in the "no way I'm taking that" camp up until I watched the above....my reality and it's on me, no one else, I'm an obese, type 2 diabetic with asthma....whether I like it or not, I fall into the high-risk pool....seeing those friends struggle and knowing that I stand a better than average chance of being down for an extended period. My mindset changed. For me, that was the eye opening reality of it.

At the end of the day, if I am nothing else, I am pragmatic

I get why others don't want it and I don't think they should "have to get it"

Yeah, you have severe food allergies (almonds, etc.).

J&J is the way to go for you.

Several people I know took the 'other two' vaccines and no problems. My niece got the sickest (early to mid 40's), but she was never in any danger. My co-worker's parents both got the 2 doses (early 80's) and they had no reactions.

It's not just the reactions, Dan.
The long-term effects of this mass mRNA vaccine experiment are unknown.
If it goes south, as SOME medical experts think it could, it's too late.

The 'follow the science' crowd is quick to condemn any experts who contradict the narrative, but I like to consider those experts who aren't afraid to express contrary medical opinions.

Friend's 80+ year old dad had the 'Rona. Damn near killed him. He's overweight with heart problems. Was also nearing the point where he'd need dialysis. The 'Rona pushed him over the edge. He had to stay in a nursing home for awhile because he was too weak to get around, but once he could stand on his own again, he went home. So after a couple months of dialysis, he's like a new man. His doc said he was nearing the point where he could stop getting dialysis. That almost NEVER happens.

Last week he got his second does of the Pfizer vaccine. This week he's in the hospital. They are entirely sure what's wrong with him, but they're not optimistic he's gonna make it. Of course it has NOTHING to do with the vaccine.

Riiiiiight...

Just like the nursing home where a friend's father has been imprisoned for a year without any family visitation other than a few minutes on Facetime a couple of times a week. (Her dad can hardly see or hear, so the Facetime visits aren't very effective, and actually end up being quite frustrating.)

Anyway, they had ZERO cases until they started vaccinating staff and patients.
Then they suddenly had 18 cases within the first two weeks, and only God knows how many more by now.

Just a coincidence I suppose...

Probably more related to the "staff" letting their guard down after being vaccinated before it kicks in...

It's impossible to catch Covid from the vaccine, it contains no covid matter...J&J vaccine excluded

If it initially poleaxes some peoples immune system, it could make them more susceptible to catching "it" though?

That would, knowing the little I know about the immune system and how vaccines in general work, I believe be possible.
The question is, with the mRna vaccines, do they cause that immune system suppression that vaccines like the flu vaccines do as it builds immunity.
Those vaccines are showing the infection to your body in a different way by not introducing it.
I think that last part is somewhat unclear and unanswered

I have an acquaintance who's wife stopped breathing and has to be resuscitated. They are an older couple and I think that she has some health issues.  I'm not sure which vaccine they took. He told me but I can't remember.

I figured that I would wait it out for a bit too.
