It's ALL about communication, period.

Sadly it looks like there was a lack of clear communication between the airplane, the tower, and the chopper.

Like James said, this leads to a cascade effect of errors which often ends badly.

Eventually NTSB will issue a report, but until then all we have is speculation.

I don't think the plane could see coming down or the chopper looking up.

Yea but just speculation. :(

Kinda like somebody in your Blind spot.

in that sense I agree with Trump the altitude made the difference. :(

Del.

FAA says tower was understaffed. Only 19 when 30 is needed. One was handling helicopter and planes where there was supposed to be 2

People are SO on edge. I'll admit, I distrust my government so much that the VERY FIRST thing I thought of was who was on that plane they wanted dead?

I think this administration knows that is the case so they are trying to say something substantive as soon as humanly possible before the conspiracy theorists just start going all out.

When flying, altitude makes ALL the difference. Sudden loss of altitude can be a real problem. 😬

And that's the way it should always be, no matter the position. Hiding in the basement during every national event to skirt questions from the media is not what this country needs.

Turns out it was a female helo pilot.
Why are helicopters playing NVG frogger where planes land every 90 seconds

Because that's where they normally operate. This chopper was from the 12th Aviation Battalion at Ft Belvoir.

They provide VIP transportation for the DoD and sometimes Congresscritters.

They could train down the road at Quantico, where there's nothing else around, but it wouldn't prepare them for their job.
