Quote from: TSmcam on January 30, 2025, 01:51 PMBaked Beans are sometimes eaten as breakfast food. To clarify, baked beans here are typically out of a can, and in are in a tomato sauce. No meat of any kind.

That doesn't look anything like the baked beans we have her in the KC area. Those look like our pork and beans without the little chunk of fat in it.

The baked beans at my favorite BBQ restaurant have enough brisket in them they would probably make a pretty decent sandwich.

:Edit: OK, just looking more closely at the can I see there is 840KJ of energy per serving in those beans. What the heck is "energy?"

I'm guessing it's New Zealand for calories? :headscratch:

Yeah, probably calories. Or carbohydrates. But there is a lot of sugar.

I'm not a big fan of those baked beans. Years ago, they did them with pepporoni. Those were pretty good.

That's not so bad, America found a potted houseplant in a basement in New Jersey and made him our president.

Quote from: Bucky Cornstarch on January 30, 2025, 12:25 PMHow's the Mexican food? If I want good Mexican food while living in Michigan I have to travel to Canada or West Virginia to get it.

Indiana is closer.

Little local joint has the best birria I have had, north or south of the border. Their tamales kick ass too.

You can't drive a mile around town here in Elkhart without running into a good Messican joint.

Now if you want some of the weird Oaxacan mole and shit, you won't find that here.

Quote from: TSmcam on January 30, 2025, 01:54 PMChristchurch has a population of about 500000. The whole country has a population of about 5 million.

We're a bit bigger than a speck, and we have a lot of manufacturing here. And quite varied.

Shouldn't that be....500000 +1 and 5 million +1 ?? 8)

At least the potted plant is useful... it creates oxygen.
