I'm going to be doing the same starting in a couple of weeks.

I don't drink much soda anyway. Maybe 1 can a week. I eat chips with my lunch every day. It's not a lot, but it's just wasted calories.

Now that I'm on the second half of my 50's I can tell that I'm going to have to make some lifestyle changes if I want to stay healthy.

Quote from: YoDoug on February 05, 2025, 06:59 AMJust a little pot stirring for today. For those of you that eat a lot of bacon and processed meat, if you need me to explain the study with smaller words don't be afraid to ask.  ;)

Am I the only one that read that study and thought, yeah, well, it's still worth it.

Kind of like, people who fish have a 25% higher chance of drowning than people who don't fish. But....still worth it.  ;D

My Gramma was an early adopter, about 10 years ago I want to say, really helped with her type 2 sugar-beetus. One needle per week and all she wanted to eat was diet coke and strawberries. I think all the diet soda, minimum 2 cases per week since 1985, really did her in. I never noticed the now-classic Ozempic symptoms in her though? Maybe if you actually need it for diabetes and not freebasing it hourly to get skinny your system doesn't get as mangled? I'm no Dr, just sayin

I was mainly referring to the people coming out and saying that it can paralyze your stomach and nasty side affects like that.
Have you seen some of these "celebrities" that all of a sudden look like Skeletor? holy shit they look terrible.

They were talking about Ozempic on the radio the other day and I didn't get to hear the negative side affects, but they were talking about how it reduces the risk of a stroke or heart attack, helps manage blood sugar, helps with sleep apnea, kidney health.

It wasn't a commercial.  lol.  I don't know if they are an advertiser on the radio station?

I would never consider taking something like that and would never suggest it to anyone. I just thought that it was interesting and wonder how true it is.

They do list possible side effect like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating and quickly feeling full after eating. In other words: gastroparesis.

Ozempic can potentially cause a side effect known as "stomach paralysis," also called gastroparesis, which means the stomach muscles slow down, delaying the emptying of food and causing symptoms like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, and feeling full quickly after eating; this is a reported side effect linked to Ozempic use due to its mechanism of action on the digestive system.
Key points about Ozempic and stomach paralysis:
Medical term:
Gastroparesis
Symptoms:
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, feeling full quickly after eating
Mechanism:
Ozempic, a GLP-1 agonist, can slow down stomach contractions, leading to delayed gastric emptying
Severity:
Symptoms can range from mild discomfort to severe pain requiring hospitalization
Important consideration:
If you experience significant stomach discomfort while taking Ozempic, consult your doctor immediately.

I'm getting a massive pastrami on grilled rye for lunch.
