Machining Cloud sues Kennametal for stealing it's technology

MachiningCloud officials said in a statement that it had entered into a contract with Kennametal to build a proprietary sales platform known as "Novo," but alleged that Kennametal utilized MachiningCloud's intellectual property and other confidential information to build a competing platform instead.

MachiningCloud officials added that the company had made repeated attempts to reach "an amicable resolution," but was forced to take "the steps necessary to protect our company."

"We believe this is a simple case of a large company trying to take advantage of a smaller company by stealing its trade secrets and contractually protected confidential information and then refusing to pay commissions it clearly owed," the company said in the statement.

IMO, Machining Cloud priced themselves out of the market and this is a last effort to keep from going under.

When I heard they were going to start charging I was willing to give them a chance.  Then I saw the price - delete account.

I'm guessing the MSC/Machining Cloud connection isn't going as well as they hoped.

I do know that Machining Cloud & Novo were originally connected, and they still almost look the same. Where it went when they split would be a guess on my part.

I use NOVO on a daily basis. It is by far the easiest to navigate when you are trying to find a particular tool. Their drill speeds & feeds are usually spot on also. 

Machining Cloud on the other hand is a hunk of shit that is almost impossible to navigate....and they try to charge for that hunk of shit. Thing is I'm guessing all of the tool mfg's pay Machining Cloud to have their tools listed in there. So Machining Cloud is trying to collect $$$ from the mfg's and end users.

free to users, make money by referring  users to tool sales companies
that didn't work
so

Charge users subscriptions and partner with vendors like Kennametal and Mitsubishi
Their subscription prices were insane...but so were Sandvik's the last time I looked.

I don't know who stole what from whom, but Machining Cloud is a dead app walking.
I knew that the second I looked at their subscription prices.
