You're leaving out the possibility that there are overlapping interests and that they had to prioritize which were the most important to them. Many farmers in our area, understood that if Trump put more tariffs on China, that it would hurt the prices of grain going to China. But then they weighed out the regulations that the Federal Govt from democrats, that were making it hard to make a living as well, and decided they'd take their chances with Trump.

Basically, out of ignorance and hubris, Trump ordered The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to waste billions of gallons of California's summer water reserves. And as usual, Trump supporters refuse to admit when Trump does something stupid and instead, blame his critics for being too critical.

Akshully, they needed to release water because if they did not, the reservoirs/dams would overflow when the snow runs off AND there is an expectation that a storm is coming through I think next week that was predicted to overrun the storage system. 

Look, California's water infrastructure is SO outdated and not up to supporting the needs of the state's current population that they have to do things that unfortunately defy common sense. It sucks. It's on of the myriad of reasons why I left that shithole.
