Your Boilermakers are looking pretty stout and have knocked down a few really good teams so far.

I don't blame you for looking forward to March because I think Purdue is set up as good as anybody for a deep run into the Tournament.

Can't wait for another Matt Painter choke-fest.

My team has fallen apart. Down 23 at halftime. Can't guard at all. Not the same team as earlier.

Yeah that is kinda weird.  :headscratch:
It's not for lack of talent or bad coaching.

I think teams sometimes just get in a rut and it's hard to break out of it.

Hopefully they get back on track for the tourney.

Our point guard and backup are both hurt and that's some of our issues.

On a different note, Rick Pitino has StJohns playing great. Hell of a coach.

Bama is keeping it together!  Good game last against Arkansas

Alabama and Kentucky are similar. Both are very offensive teams but defense is not very good.

This transfer portal stuff isn't helping anything either.

Why the NC-double-asshats decided on having the transfer portal open during the postseason tournament is anyone's guess.   :headscratch:

I was just reading that something like 800 basketball players have entered the portal, and the tournament hasn't even started yet.  It seems only fair to me that tournament-eligible teams should not be able to manipulate their postseason rosters until the tournament is over and a National Champion has been crowned.  In other words, teams should only be allowed to compete in the tournament with the same roster of players who played during the regular season.

There is also a rumor they are thinking of expanding the tournament to 94 teams, which I don't like either.
I think 64 is the right number of teams for March Madness the way it is.

What do you guys think?
Close the transfer portal before the tournament and keep the 64-team format, or leave it open like the wild west, and expand the format?

I'm not aware of players being able to transfer during season. I think the portal is good for players who have improved their skills and want to transfer from mid major schools to get more exposure. Tough on coaches now having fewer players returning.

QuoteThe portal will open after the second round of the NCAA Tournament and conclude before the end of April. Athletes would still be given a 30-day window to transfer after a head coach's departure.

According to the NCAA, the portal opens for business on Monday, March 24, and closes on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The national championship game will be played on April 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Not during the regular season, but the portal strangely opens during the tournament.
So theoretically, programs who get past the 2nd round could bring new portal players in on the fly.

That seems unfair IMO, and just really strange that they don't wait until the tournament is over and teams will begin to build for the next season.

Kentucky vs Tennessee. Cats up 3 with 3:28 left in first half. We're playing good.
